Just wanted to point out that we should take out all retired players before we change to V2.
Like Scott Niedermayer, Brendan Shanahan, etc.
It would be great if each GM could look at his roster and point out themselves who isn't supposed to be on their rosters anymore. It would save some time. Thanks.

With the new rule, scott neids will be able to play one more season in the sim. Or does the fact that he is a ufa this offseason negate that?

I just figured that we went with what we used to do. If a guy retires before the start of the NHL season, then he is out of the SIM, but if he retires during the course of the year, then he stays in the SIM.
Mike, how do you wish to procede?

Michel would have been correct last year, but this year the rule is changed. To me, it didn't make sense to say "Tavares & Hedman can't play last year" then this season say "Niedermayer can't play this season". You are losing a full year of the player's career with this logic. Since we have to wait a season for a player to be created, then in order for his full NHL service to be realized in the TFNHL, we need to keep him another year after he retires (or moves to Europe).
Shanahan goes; Niedermayer stays.
Shanny leaves the SIM b/c he had zero games in the '09-'10 season. Scotty stays b/c he did play last season.
Still, I couldn't agree more with Michel's original point: there are some players still hanging around that need to be removed (retired or in Europe). Players who played zero games last season cannot be on your roster.
Let's make it simple: You need to police your own roster. If you still have ineligible players on your roster at the start of pre-season, you will be fined $3MM per player.
(The proceeds will then be distributed among non-playoff teams on the west coast that have purple, grey, and black as their team colors.) ;D

Sounds good to me. It makes more sense too. But when I negociate for Niedermayer, it should be noted that since we know its his last year in the game, no more than a 1 year deal will be accepted. Plus he might really like going to a team that could win it this year!
