I don't understand some of the ratings in this package. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone from the TFNHL, but some of the stats the creator came up with don't make much sense. Chris Drury has a higher SC rating than Valtteri Filppula and yet Drury scored 14 goals in 77 games compared to 11 in 55 that Filp scored. Over 77 games Filp would have scored nearly 16. I know it's close, but wouldn't that mean that Filp should have a higher SC rating? Back in the day the former commish had a spreadsheet (that was fine tuned by Wayne B) and I thought it worked pretty well. I wonder what formula this creator used? Also, don't playoff stats count? I was hoping that Filps and Leino's strong postseason would help their cause somewhat. Anyhoot, thanks for updating the league and putting this hard work in. It's appreciated. Remember, the ratings are not only based on last year NHL statistics, but the players career. This way a guy who get 50 goals one year and scores 10 a season for the next 6 doesnt get Alex Ovechkin type scoring ratings. It also works if a guy hits 40 goals for like 4 years and has an off year of 15 goals, so that he doesnt have a scoring rating of a 15 goal scorer. Remember, Filppula has never had a 20+ goal season, while drury has had 20 + for the 9 of his 11 seasons.

i would also like to point out that the defenses scoring and passing are pretty strange , i know lidstrom didnt have a big season but he at least had 40 passes and he is at 56 on pa. i didnt compare to other defense but for instance , Chara , kaberle and lidstrom should all 3 at least be at 70 on PA has they all are 40 + passers.

If Dom can tweek a few guys around, I think a basic rule of say 3 players on each team should be aloud to be fine tuned. Thoughts anyone?

I dont mind editing players, but I think we should rate it with a pre-determined system.

Personally I was expecting better rates but the guy uses multiple seasons to do the ratings. Using Hank 2 players, if the ratings go back 5 years drury has 2 30 goal season to Filp none. I didn't add up the goals but my guess is that drury has scored more in 5 years. The author explains what he has done on the link Dom posted. I am kind of live and let live so I apologize. edit: In my case I look at Boyd Gordon, his SC and DF went down when he actually did better than last year.

heyy could you edit Del Zottos rating, its really low. He had an amazing year. and one thing that doesnt make sense is Gilroys rating is 56 and he had a bad season and DZ is a 57 and he had a good year.
Also Hillen should be higher than a 59. he hd 21 pts in 60 some thing games. -5, which is great for one of the worst teams in the NHL.
Am I aloud to do this? lol

OV rating means nothing, zero, ziltch, nada to the sim. It is the average of the other ratings.
There is an option in the sim to surpress that rating but I like to see it myself. So removing is not what I want.

Going back 5 seasons is ridiculous. It should be two tops. And like matredevil pointed out, Lidstrom getting a 56PA is laughable. How do you explain that if we go back 5 seaons?
For years the TFNHL has allowed GM's to submit 3 players to be rerated before the season and at the halfway mark. Perhaps we should do this again?

I didn't pay much attention to Mrtrade's post. I look up Green, Markov, Lidstrom, Kaberle, Gonchar, Chara, Keith, Pronger and I think Green/Keith is rated too high compared to the others. Again looking at 5 years back and not entering data on a spreadsheet. I think I will try to ask the author why? and how far he really goes with the stats. edit: Now that I think about it, I think defensemen are rated on a lower scale than the forwards and there is no relation made to wether he plays on a good or bad team.

Done, I guess I'll wait for an answer.
I haven't compare the defensemen's PA from last year to this year.

I hated this rating package when we started using it and it's not gotten any better this year.. There *has* to be a better one out there somewhere, no?

I haven't cared to bother checking but aren't there players that are rated higher than they should be on teams?

Like josé said, the OV is completly useless. Some of the guys, like myself, use only the SC - DF - PA - FO - EX stats to do my lines. So basically, they seem fine to me.
