Supposedly there is an option to remove an injured player's salary from a teams' payroll.
This is set by individual leagues. My question is what is our setting regarding this?
Sullivan and Brunette have played 3 and 8 of my team's 51 games. Their total salary is $7.6 mil. Gaustad, who is injured for the 3rd will miss the rest of the season at $2.1 mil.
I would like to know what is our setting or even if it is used at all.
My understanding is that if the setting is 80% CON then the time a player is below that his salary is not calculated.
I am not sure if it's a general setting though.

My personal opinion, injured players should be paid their salary, but it should not count against salary cap. Unless someone knows otherwise, I believe players in real NHL get paid when they are injured, though I am uncertain whether or not they get 100% of their full salary. (I thought that they did so long as it was a hockey related injury.... In other words, you may not get paid if you have a heart attack at home or accidentally fall off a ladder.) I can see waiving the cap to allow GMs to pick up guys in order to fill their roster back to normal size. How does IR work in NHL? Do salaries of players on IR count toward cap? (Kings' Letang has played in only 8 games, and we've lost all 8.... Maybe I could get one of the guys to trip him in practice.)

This message board has a shortage of smilies. If the option is there then it can/will not be used. Where did Letang come from? He could play all 82 games and you lose all of them. I don't care.

I mentioned Letang b/c he has been injured for most of the season.... The same reason you mention, "Sullivan and Brunette have played 3 and 8 of my team's 51 games." I went on to comment that it's a little ironic that Letang finally comes back & Kings lose.... I thought it was a little funny that I can't seem to win a game with him in the lineup.

I mentioned my players cases because they are directly related to my idea.
I don't sell hot dogs and drinks as the NHL teams do. So when my players are injured I have to pay others to do the job and I still don't sell hot dogs and drinks to do so.
One of the objective of this league is to turn a dollar or two. If I am losing money I want to stop it if I can.
Note that just about all the top teams lose money and the bottom feeders with the messed up lines are making money. From the top teams that make money one has a handful of players on the farm.
So, if there is a way to keep money in my pockets I'll look for it. That or strip down my farm team and scrap my waiver claims because face it we will wait 5 years for 3 of these guys to amount to a credited player.
