Releasing players still eligible for the SIM when leaving a team short of bodies should not be allowed. This is not in the rules but should still be enforced.
One of the things we still DON'T do like the NHL is having a full roster and that is besides the simming hiccups it causes.

GMs will certainly not be allowed to cut players to the point of invalid roster DURING the season. However, during the off-season, GMs can pretty much do whatever they want with the understanding that their team must be ready to go for the pre-season.

It's also worth pointing out that section 7.1 of the rulebook stipulates a minimum roster size: 20 pro and enough to fill 2 full lines on farm. Also, three goalies (2 pro + 1 farm).
Again, this will be enforced during the season. In the off-season, there is no reason to enforce this rule. Come pre-season, if there are any rosters NOT fitting the minimum, GMs may be fined (section 7.5) and some really sucky players will be signed to 1 yr contracts whether you like it or not.
As FYI, the teams currently not meeting the minimum roster requirements are Detroit, Chicago, San Jose, Colorado, and Islanders. The latter two are only missing goalies, and some of these teams are currently addressing their shortages via free agency.

Yep, wrong method. When you send in lines, you can demote people that way. If you only have Mac, go ahead & PM/email me direct with how you want your pro/farm lines, and I'll send the proper file to Dom.

did you see this stephane? roster - josef melichar Ossi Vaananen These two players played in europe last year. Therefore, you have two choices 1- you can release both players at NO COST, but lose all exclusive rights 2- you can retain their rights by paying 50% of their contract value, and keep them on your propect list. When they come back to play in NA, you get exclusive rights to them. I dont know if you knew this, but just giving you a heads up in case you didnt.
