Hey guys. I really hope I don't come across as a dink here, but can I request something from all the other GM's?
If you are interested in someone off my roster and want to make a deal for them, when you send me an email, PLEASE present me with a trade offer.
One of my pet peeves is getting emails saying "Is <Enter Name> available?" If I say yes, the response is always "Great. Look at my roster and tell me what you want for him".
THIS IS NOT HOW I WORK.
If you want a player, YOU DO THE LEG WORK and submit me an offer. I'm not going to pour over your roster and try to come up with a suitable trade. If you like Hemsky, then tell me who you're willing to trade for him. It doesn't work the other way around. Again, I'M NOT GOING TO DO YOUR WORK FOR YOU.
So please, I'm begging you, if you want to open the lines for a trade, present me with an offer.
From here on out, I will ignore all trade offers or requests unless there is an actual trade offer included in the email.
Thanks and have a Merry Christmas.
Hank St.Louis GM

Thanks, Hank.
I have no problem with you publicly expressing to the league how you prefer to operate. A broadcast message like this is a good way to get your point across to a bunch of folks at once.
I also happen to agree with your preferred method of operation. To me, if a GM has interest in one of your players, he should be willing to make an initial offer. While I understand the strategy involved by NOT making the first offer, if you are the one making the inquiry, you need to be prepared to make an offer. Even if you provide a list of availables on your team... that's at least a start.

Thanks. I didn't want to sound like a jerk, but at times I grew a bit weary of always having to do the work for the person who's requesting a deal. Like you said, I understand the strategy of hoping the other GM offers a sweet one-sided deal.
Other GM's might be fine with that approach. I just wanted it clear that if you want to make a deal, please be prepared to make the first offer.

bump!...not so simple though I said the same thing a couple of years ago. Do your own leg work guys, I am not setting myself up to counter offer on my own offers. In what way would I be interested in deals that help you after having a deal that would help me failed because you trade with a buddy Don't forget to establish a trading relationship too. To some, just stop interfering.

Well, it's hard to make an offer without knowing wherer your interest is. If I have never talked to you before, I am more inclined to ask u tell me which assets are of interest as this will help me establish an offer.
So, I guess I am the opposite of you because I am tired of metropolit for eblerle offers in my email. I like a GM to ask me to look over their roster first.
Eh?

What I am saying and maybe also Hank is that there are GMs that only state '' I am interested in Jim Billy, what would he cost''. While you have a trade block with specifics. If you go about your inquiries as you say I don't anything wrong there. I would say if you get those type of offers for Eberle then the others don't care about establishing a trading relationship.

I don't make many trades but I'll only consider specific offers. I'm probably guilty of sending off the vague "what would he cost?" messages, probably in the hope that the other GM is smoking crack and will send me a Ryan Miller in return for Darren Pang.
